Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park- Agua Dulce, CA

Southern California is such a beautiful area to examine. From the sunny beaches to the Joshua tree and jackrabbit filled deserts. The peaceful mountains to the remarkable canyons, and everything else. All of its nature is simply breathtaking, and I absolutely love it. Since I live an outrageous amount of miles away from my employer, I have the pleasure of taking several scenic routes. My two main ways of travel are driving through the mountains of Angeles National Forest or hitting the busy freeway. Today, I prefer the mountains, but when I first moved to California almost two years ago, I always took the highway because I felt it was the “safer” of the two.

During the day while driving, I love admiring this treasure. Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park was formed in Santa Clarita and approximately 30-40 minutes north of Los Angeles. The first time I passed by, I did not imagine it being an actual park; I only assumed it was another sensational scenic view. After months of commuting to work, I finally decided it was time to visit and explore these massive and phenomenal rocks. My first visit to the park was quite exciting and, for sure, an expedition. I felt like Dora the Explorer during this hike because there were so many things to explore.

When arriving at the park, there’s an information board with a few neat facts. The only points I’m going to mention are the movies filmed in the park. Yes, movies! Some popular ones include The Flintstones, Wild Wild West, Holes, Over The Hedge, and Planet of the Apes. Of course, the board also included warnings of wild animals such as bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, and snakes. I was not thrilled about that, but hey, that’s what comes with the hiking lifestyle; I have to accept the scary possibilities. Luckily, my sister and I were able to complete the hike without being attacked- haha, successful!

The overall trip throughout the area was delicate but complicated to begin. Even with using the AllTrails app, it was a challenge to find the start of the trail. I will admit that it is relatively easy to get lost within the rocks. There’s isn’t a super clear pathway throughout the entire park, so I’m thankful for my hiking app. Since I’m kind of a thrill-seeker, I found excitement in climbing some of the rocks to get better views, so that was astonishing. One thing that amazed me was the horse trail and how steep it was. All I could envision was a horse plunging down the hill. Plus, I was looking forward to seeing a horse but no luck- there was nothing but enormous piles of horse manure.

Exploring this area was the first time I discovered actual cactus. Growing up on the East Coast spotting cactus is nonexistent, so I was super stoked about those findings. I’ve always loved the plant and dreamed of seeing the larger ones in person, but unfortunately, these weren’t large. They were little mini baby cactus, but I was still happy with seeing them. Recently I tried to grow some, and it was an epic fail. I may try again soon, so we’ll see how that goes!

For sure, if you’re ever in SoCal and would like to experience this stunning park, go for it because my photos do absolutely no justice! However, I highly suggest going during the beginning of fall or spring because it was freezing during winter and scorching hot during mid-spring. Be sure to bring plenty of water because I don’t doubt the possibilities of getting lost without the proper guidance app or an actual map for those who are “old school.” Wearing sunscreen and a hat would also be ideal due to there being little to no shady areas. I hope at least one of my readers will be able to visit this beauty so I can hear all about it! Please don’t hurt yourself trying to take an epic photo climbing on the rocks, but please, “Live a Little” while doing so.

Museum of Selfies- Los Angeles, CA

Today we live in a “selfie queen” era. When you see a large variety of your followers’ photos on social media, nine times out of ten, they were taken in selfie-mode. For sure, most of my portraits are because I’m a camera freak and I love capturing memorable moments. When taking selfies you can see exactly what you’re capturing- the lighting, those “popping” angles, if anything is between your teeth, your hair sticking up, and much more. Pretty sure that’s why most prefer selfie-mode.

The Museum of Selfies can be found in the Hollywood tourist area of Los Angeles, California. It is also where the Hollywood Walk of Fame is located. I knew immediately I was going to love this place before I could visit. My sister and I went on a great day because there wasn’t much traffic inside of the museum. Minimum traffic equals extra time to capture the perfect selfie. Haha! We were able to freely explore the museum without other visitors rushing us. Overall, the entire museum is a fun-filled, creative, and cool place, plus it is suitable for all ages to enjoy. My favorite part was the pool filled with emoji balls. It reminded me that I’m still a big kid at heart, and I’m not ashamed to admit that.

Long story short, if you’re ever in Los Angeles and you love taking selfies, add this museum to your itinerary. Be sure to go selfie crazy!

Live a Little

As we rise each morning, we never imagine it could be our last day on Earth. We also never think of how drastic one choice of any moment could change our lives- whether it’s temporary or perpetual. Within a split second, everything could change, and we often seem to take it all for granted. We make decisions without thoroughly considering the possible consequences. We live off of hopes and assumptions with the thoughts of things turning out flawlessly. But we have to understand that isn’t how life functions. No matter how much we plan something out, it isn’t always going to succeed as such. That isn’t to say; it’ll still fail either. Life works in mysterious ways- sometimes seemingly magical. No matter the obstacles we may undergo, never give up, and continue to push further than before.

A lot of us are utterly gullible about life and see no wrongdoing happening- well, that is until it happens to us. We have to be wiser and not jump for just anything. Living life for today and not the future is vital. There is no guarantee tomorrow will come for us, and by the time we realize that it’ll already be too late. We have to live for ourselves, and not what anyone else prefers for us because each individual has the right to make their own decisions. Caring less about what others may speculate of us is also crucial. Being ourselves is the best thing that could ever happen to us. Seeking validation from others is not favorable and pathetic. Acceptance is simple to come by, so why do we change or operate a specific way to fulfill others?

Worrying about what others are accomplishing and what they have has to end. We all can do anything we put our minds to, of course! If we want it, we have to work hard, stay motivated, dedicated, and consistent. Give the proper affirmations to those succeeding their life goals. When it’s our time to shine, all of the hard work will eventually pay off. Speaking of hard work- we have to be sure to take time for ourselves. If we don’t own the company, don’t let our lives revolve around it. We have to upkeep our health, mental, and emotions as much as possible. We can not allow work to drain us, so yes, take those breaks and vacations, because we deserve it! Some of us tend to lose ourselves within employment, and that is for sure unhealthy. Do not lose yourself!

Make a change today, and start living for yourself! If you want to let your hair down, do it. If you’ve dreamed of dancing on a bar top, go Coyote Ugly crazy, but please don’t fall. If you have a crush you’re too afraid to approach, “slide in the DM.” If you want to have sex in a car or some other unusual setting- have fun! Are you thinking of eating that last slice of pizza? Who the fuck cares? If you’re a daredevil hoping to skydive, go for it. You’ve been dying to take that road trip, safe travels, and make plenty of memories! If you need to burp or fart in the presence of your crush, you better do it because it’s life (no shame in my game). If you want to go commando, let it breathe because it’s a fantastic feeling! If you desire dancing on a pole for extra coins, “make that money baby, don’t let it make you.” You desperately want that one expensive item, and you know you can afford it, get it because you’ll always make that money again. You want to go back to school, but you feel too old, go get your degree because there’s no such thing as “being too old for school!

The point of the post is to be free, clear-minded, and happy- all while “Living a Little!” It is okay to be free. Do whatever you want, live in the moment, be safe, be yourself, and have fun because this is YOUR life, and remember the future isn’t guaranteed. Save being miserable later, because you wished you would have done everything when you had the chance. It isn’t too late, go out and LIVE YOUR LIFE!

Until next time Hooters and always remember to “Live a Little”.

Cherry’s “21st” Birthday

Years ago, on June 27th, a healthy, beautiful (funny-looking at first- laugh it off), supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, baby nicknamed, “Cherry,” was born!

Thanks to this lovely pandemic, I was not able to celebrate traditionally. Luckily, I’ve been blessed with an amazing sister and brother-in-law, who made my special day joyful! Although a “quarantine” birthday was not ideal, we still made it the best under the circumstances and had a great time. Since I’m older, I don’t get too excited about gifts, but let me tell you, I’m thrilled about EVERYTHING I received! My favorite is my new “toy,” a selfie light ring on a tripod! Sorry, but I’m about to start flooding you all with more pictures due to the perfect lighting. Plus, my new iPhone has a stunning camera. I just may reconsider a YouTube page- we shall see.

Thanks to everyone who showed me so much birthday love, I am so thankful to have such amazing family and friends! A special shoutout to Just Like Honi Creations for doing everything possible to safely mail me a surprise cake from the East Coast all the way to the West Coast. Receiving the cake felt like back home because it tasted delicious, and I’ve always gotten two cakes for my birthdays. Guess you can say, I’m spoiled. My second cake was from one of my favorite cupcake shops, Nadia Cakes, which has made appearances on, Food Network, TLC, and BuzzFeed! If you’ve ever been to Small Cakes, you’d love Nadia Cakes. We’ve had cake for days so don’t blame me if I gain over the next week!

Overall my small birthday celebration was fabulous and I was able to put together a cute little iMovie to show a snippet from the second part of my day. Enjoy!

Runyon Canyon- Los Angeles, CA

As we know, I absolutely love hiking! Although, I once succeeded an extremely challenging hike back in the Blue Ridge Mountains, I have never experienced anything like Runyon Canyon. That has to be my first super hard hiking expedition that I will not visit again until I’m super fit! Ha.

Runyon Canyon is located in Los Angeles, California. I chose the hike because I kept seeing celebrities posting via social media. They made it seem like a piece of cake compared to what I experienced! The park is one of the most visited in Los Angeles. The best part about the hike were the stunning views. The challenging part were the excessively steep hills and steps. Goodness, I was never scared of heights until going uphill at a dramatic angle with little to no railing support. At that moment, I was officially afraid of heights for the remainder of the journey. Seeing the whole Los Angeles, Hollywood, Burbank, and everything else was dope and all but I needed to make that a quick trip!

The confidence I originally had slowly drifted away plus, being out of shape did not help! I wanted the hike over because I felt like I was about to pass out and fall down the hill. Not to mention, wearing a pair of old Nike Huaraches was not the ideal hiking attire. The slipping was real especially when going down a steep hill of nothing but lose rocks- I thought I was going to die. I can’t forget the numerous warning signs for rattlesnakes! Good thing I went in the winter. My motto of life is, “Live a Little” so I pushed through to the end and was satisfied once the hike was defeated!

I would recommend for those who love a challenging fitness workout or those who love breathtaking views! Check out some of my journey below:
